Let's prepare this luxurious dinner for two! To be honest with you before I could not imagine eating half raw fish, but do not hesitate to try these yummy tuna steaks. They are most delicate meat you will ever try, grilled on the outside, medium rare on the inside - simply divine!

Just like with beef steaks different times apply to get desired final result - from rare to well done. And how do you like yours? We fried these for 30 seconds (on each side) for medium rare. If you prefer it done just fry it for 45 seconds (on each side) and for well done 1.30-2 minutes (on each side).

White beans with capers and chilli turned out to be perfect accompaniment for tuna. Overall very healthy and low-cal dish that everyone will enjoy.

Recipe adapted from Donna Hay - Fast, fresh, simple

for 2 people:

  • 1 tbs olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • pinch dried chilli flakes
  • 2 tbs salted capers rinsed
  • 1x400g can white beans (or fresh)
  • 1/2 bunch flat leaf parsley leaves
  • pinch chilli (powdered)
  • 2x 150g tuna fillets
  • extra olive oil for brushing
  • lemon wedges
  • salt, pepper
  • freshly ground black pepper to serve

Crush the garlic. Dry and rinse beans. Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the oil, garlic, chilli and capers and cook for 3 minutes. Add the beans and cook for 4 minutes or until heated through. Remove from heat and set aside. To cook the tuna, brush both sides with extra oil and sprinkle well with salt and pepper. Heat a frying pan over high heat. Cook the tuna on both sides. Remove from pan  and thickly slice. To serve, stir the parsley through the bean mixture and divide between serving plates. Top with sliced tuna, sprinkle with chilli and serve with lemon wedges.
