We had kind of our Halloween night yesterday. First we started off with new James Bond movie - Skyfall, I really recommend it, it is quite different than all Bond movies and Javier Bardem as a villain is excellent in it. Than we went for few drinks and were just watching crazy dressed up people having fun (we had fun too lol ). There were quite a few cool outfits around - two guys dressed up as Terrence and Philip from South Park movie and than for me the winner was a guy dressed up as Hulk. It was freezing last night and he had this green paint all over his body and had just pants on to keep him warm.

We were trying to get into Halloween spirit in the kitchen too but not success there at all! It was supposed to be Pumpkin & ginger tea bread post today, but it did not turn out great :( I will give it another try tomorrow and keep you posted! So in the end we cooked something different for today's dinner - Bart's Mom - Miss Izabela's delicious pork shoulder recipe. This is very typical comfort polish dinner, add to it sour cabbage and boiled potatoes, and it is dream coming true! This dish is ideal for an autumnal dinner party!

Mom's pork shoulder

  • 1.5 kg pork
  • 4 onions
  • 3 tbs olive oil
  • 1 tbs marjoram
  • 1 tbs paprika
  • salt and pepper

Rub the meat with salt and pepper, marjoram and paprika. Set aside covered, for several hours or preferably overnight. Preheat oven to 180°C. Pour olive oil to oven-pan, place seasoned meat in a dish and place in the oven for 2 hours. Cut onions in half, sprinkle with salt, and add to the roasting meat at around 1.20 of baking time. Delicious with sauerkraut and boiled potatoes!
